NPG

The two photos that have chosen are of Hilary Swank and of Louis Armstrong. In the photo of Hilary Swank is of her in full flight running down the beach, what the would read into this photo would be that she is very determine- with her head down and arms pumping.
The photo taken of Louis Armstrong in 1935 shows him with trumpet in hand and coth to his face with very big grin on his face. Reading into this image it is easy to tell that he loved playing his trumpet, it looks as if just finished a concept.

These two photographs are completely different in the way they are taken with the location that is used, how it was taken, and the style.
The location of the Hillarys photo was taken on a beach with waves and rocks in the background. A fast shutter speed would have been used to capture her in mid-flight.
Louis Armstrong’s photo on the other hand is very dramatic with the use of lighting and sepia tone. The shot is also taken inside, with the camera looking up a Louis making him bigger than he is.

The photographer does not construe identity of Hilary is constructed at all really, because she is an actress but she is in full flight as if she was a runner or athlete. Louis on the other hand is very much constructed because he is holding a trumpet, and that was what he was famous for.

Both of the portraits seem to be portraying the truth. The photo of Hilary seems very focused, and would have to be to be an actress. Louis seems really real to life and a very nice guy, with that massive smile.
