Autochrome
Colour photography started as early as 1840, but this only used four colours, was slow, and expensive. This process was called chromolithography. I was not until about 1908 when the first Autochrome image was published in “camera work” April 1908.
The process for autochrome images includes potatoes were crushed making a starch. First began with a clear glass plate which was coated with a thin layer of varnish that was very sticky. After it was exposed to light it became a positive transparency.
